There are so many things that can take your mind away from the task at hand, even if you have a goal in place, getting it done can be difficult.

However, being able to improve your mental focus will increase your overall productivity, making it easier for you to accomplish more in a shorter amount of time.

1. Be realistic about your goals.

We overestimate what we can do in a day! Be realistic about your goals and don't put too much on your plate; otherwise, you'll become overwhelmed and completely lose mental focus.

Make a list of all the tasks that are expected to be completed, select the most important ones and ignore the ones that don't have an immediate deadline.

2. It's not about time – it's about energy.

Don't measure efficiency by hours spent, instead, focus your energy on the commitments and actions that bring results.

3. Avoid multitasking at all costs.

With the development of new technologies and equipment, people constantly find themselves multitasking which is a very common mistake.

Multitasking lowers your mental focus preventing you from working efficiently, switch off everything that may trigger interesting impulses and focus on one task at a time.

4. Plan accordingly.

Planning how many hours you will need for each task and creating an agenda will help you stay focused without making you feel overwhelmed.
